The color of your front door and what it says about you.
31 May
Here is some color pyschology for your day. See what color your front door is projecting about your home and maybe what color it should be.
Blue.
Shown to be the most popular color in many studies, a blue front door signals that the homeowner views his or her home as a place of refuge — calm, serene, and relaxing, the perfect retreat from an often harsh and demanding world.
Green.
Green is another popular color for the front door, and with good reason. Psychologically speaing, green connotes health, safety, tranquility, and harmony, all highly desirable attributes for the home environment.
Black.
Those who paint the front door black are communicating something entirely different about their homes. A black front door projects strength, sophistication, power, and authority, indicating to all who enter or even passersby that the home is a serious place inhabited by a person of substance.
Red.
Regarded as a powerful “punch” color, red is the color of passion. By painting the front door red, the homeowner is saying that the home within is a vibrant place, full of life, energy, and excitement.
Brown.
Whether painted or stained, a brown front door looks natural and organic, but it can send mixed messages in terms of color psychology. On the one hand, brown conveys warmth, stability, and reliability, positive attributes all, but certain darker shades of brown signal a desire for privacy, even isolation.

Orange County Housing-High in Demand, Low Inventory
6 May
For the past month and a half the market in Southern California is experiencing 2005 buying/selling experience. (Click the previous highlight on Lasner’s take) We have tried to coach our clients who are trying to buy right now to come in with their highest and best. ESPECIALLY, if they are not all cash and are either conventional or FHA. Low-balling offers thinking people are lucky to have a buyer is a thing of the past. There is a general feeling that we are at the lower point since the market crashing. We have buyers stacking up. We need your listings! Even though you may not have the equity count of 2007 its still a great time to sell quick and move along if you have been hanging on to a short sale hoping to recover some day. They aren’t predicting prices going back up to that level for 10-12+ years.
Great use of space for the “formal” living/dining areas.
24 Apr
My friend would always refer to her formal living room as the “insurance man” room. Not many of us have the need for that apace, especially if the insurance man stops by maybe once in your life. Our “insurance man” is a great friend. We would ask him to come in, loosen his tie, grab a beer and push a toy off the sofa before sitting down in a stuffy place where your not supposed to touch anything. If you have an un-used formal living room or dining room, check this link out. Many houses have this extra space that many of us do not use on a day to day basis and when calculating price per square foot, that is a pricey storage place for a couch you never use. I absolutely love the wine bar and library/office workspace. Enjoy!
Architechture for the most scrupulous. Geoff Sumich Designs
27 Mar
Geoff Sumich has been featured in Architectural Digest and is one of the most talented designers with an attention to detail like no one I have ever met. Most people only get to stand outside and wonder what a house like one of Geoff’s designs looks like on the inside. I consider myself privelaged to get to go inside to look around. I will never forget discussing this project with him in Laguna Beach as we were combing over every detail of the house, from faucets to lighting, to placements of pianos and most impressive the dining room table. He said, “Do you know why I usually get my way when it comes to designing a house for a client? Because I work my a** off for hours upon hours making sure it is perfect before I present it to my client.” (He made sure to tell us the house numbers and japanese style topiary trees were not his choice and would be leaving the front entry way.)His work ethic is amazing and his abilities unrivaled in my eyes. Please excuse the crappy iPhone photos, we will be getting professional shots soon. (Thanks Markus!)
Did I forget to mention the garage can fit up to 30 cars and has its own automatic car wash? Your welcome.
LOWER YOUR PROPERTY TAXES!
25 FebIf the market value of your home is less than the taxable value, you may be able to reduce your property taxes today!
One of the few positives that come out of a declining housing market is the opportunity to have your property taxes lowered.Counties calculate the amount of your property tax as a percentage of the market value of your home. But if your value drops below their calculation, they will not know it unless you bring it to their attention. You might be over-paying thousands of dollars in property taxes every year. So, how do you know if the County’s calculated value, also known as Assessed Value, is higher than the value of your property? Well, it is a lot easier than you think.
There is a one page form that is easy to fill out. Go to www.oc.ca.gov/assessor/ or Click this link- informal assessment review.
You will need 3 comparable closed sales to show the market value as of January 1, 2012.
Email us at gingerhuetsch@me.com or megherzing@yahoo.com and we can send you recent sales information.
